Course Description: MIC 101 is an introduction to basic computer use with an emphasis on using the Microsoft Office Suite.

Course Purpose/Overview/Goals: Upon successful completion of this course, students will have basic skills using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft PowerPoint. Students will also gain comfort with computers as they work, enabling them to continue to move ahead in their computing skills.

Instructor’s Educational Philosophy: Students learn best by taking responsibility for their own education. Instructors give students opportunities to let themselves learn. Computing, like most topics, is best approached by getting as much hands-on experience as possible. In order to get the grade you want, you must earn it with your work on homework and the project. It is your responsibility to do the work, turn things in on time, and ask for help if you are having any problems. In general, last minute requests for points will lead me to believe that you are not doing your part in this process.

Special Needs: If you need course adaptations or accommodations because of a disability, if you have emergency medical information to share with me, or if you need special arrangements in case the building must be evacuated, please make an appointment with me as soon as possible.

Cheating Policy: Any cheating will result in a zero grade for the assignment. Each student must do her/his own work and may not share files.
