If you're feeling a bit nervous about even getting to the information that will tell you how to succeed, here are some basic hints.
- Know that the computer is not smart. You are smart. We'll talk more about that during this first week. But the most important result of that fact is that you shouldn't let the computer make you feel stupid because you will always be smarter than it!
- Read everything. When you are looking at your computer screen and don't know what to do or feel lost, take the time to read what's on the screen and see if you can find an answer there.
- New to computers? Have the feeling there are things just off the screen that you'd like to read? Scroll around to see that information. Don't know how to scroll? Watch this short movie to learn how to scroll.
- Ask questions! Your instructor, and some of your peers, are willing and able to help you work through problems. But we won't know you need help unless you ask.
