FINAL SELF EVALUATION GUIDELINES

For your final self-evaluation, the goal is to identify the metacognitive strategies you used throughout the quarter.  Specifically, how did you approach the quiz, essay, and seminar assignments?  What strategies did you find helpful?  Are there any strategies you wish you would have used but didn't?  Briefly comment in a paragaph or two what you learned about yourself as a learner by completing these self-evaluations.

Calculate your quiz and essay totals as you did at mid-term except this time get a cumulative total for the entire quarter. Give yourself full credit for your two lowest (or missed) quizzes and your two lowest (or missed) essays. Remember, these scores can all be found by clicking on GRADEBOOK in ANGEL.

I would like you to evaluate your seminar performance for the second half of the quarter just like you did for the first half in the mid-term self-evaluation.  In other words, cite your own contribututions to seminar as evidence that you conformed to the criteria for effective seminar participation.  See guidelines for writing your mid-term evaluation to complete this part of the final self evaluation.  The only difference is that you'll be looking at your performance during weeks 6-12 instead of the first 5 weeks.  Then, in order to estimate an overall grade for seminar, add your mid-term seminar grade (the one I assigned - see gradebook) to your estimated seminar grade for the second half of the quarter to get a cumulative total.  Comment briefly about any changes you might have made from the first half to the second half of the quarter regarding your participation in seminar.

Comment briefly about some of the most important learning you gained from taking this course.  How do you see this course material as impacting your life, future studies, career, etc.?  If you don't see that this course material has anything to do with your life, comment briefly on why you think that's the case.  (Remember this is not a course evaluation.  That's a separate activity.  Your focus here is on yourself - what you did and didn't do to maximize the gains from this learning opportunity.)

And, finally, estimate your final grade just like you did at mid-term but using the totals as published in the syllabus.  Don't forget to add in cumulative points earned for all categories: autobiography, quizzes, essays, seminar participation, and self-evaluations (you will have to estimate how you think you did on this final self-evaluation).
