1. Complete one of the case study exercises for this chapter found on the companion website for our text.

2. The existence of a network of social support is crucial to the adjustment of the parent and child(ren) in a single-parent home. Give at least four specific examples of people, agencies, or institutions that might function as social supports for a single-parent family, and tell what each might provide.

3. Explore the relationship between family income and family function. Include a discussion of the family stress model in predicting the impact of low and high incomes.
