Choose your Urban Park Field Trip Site Select an area of your urban parkwhere you are likely to see birds.    
Prepare for your Urban Park Field Trip Review the list of birds that you are likely to see in your urban park

Choose a field trip partner For your safety, do not go on a field trip by yourself    
Collect the Materials Needed for Your Field Trip You will need your binoculars, field notebook and field guides    
Scout your Field Trip Site Prior to beginning your Urban Park Field Trip choose a route that includes habitats areas where you are like to see birds. Areas to consider include open areas, school yards, parks, etc.    
Field Trip Activities Dress appropriately for the weather. Protect exposed skin with sunscreen. Observe birds in your Urban Park for at least 2 hours. Use your field Guide to identify each bird. Add each bird's name to your class bird list and to your Life List, if it is a first time sighting.  
Field Trip Report Use the Class Discussion Web to share your field trip experiences with your classmates. Describe the areas where you observed birds. Complete your Urban Park Trip Report before midnight on Sunday, October 19, 2008  
Peer Interaction Prepare a list of the species you observed in your urban park. Share your Urban Park Field Trip experiences on the Class Discussion web
