In this module you will explore your local environment. In urban ecosystems you will find a mixture of native and nonnative animals and plants. You will have the opportunity to practice making observations and collecting data.
Science begins with observations. These observations are used to create a hypothesis to explain the phenomena being studied. Experiments are designed to prove or disprove the hypothesis. The data from the experiments may support the hypothesis or require that the hypothesis be modified. This scientific method has been used to develop the concepts that are used to explain natural phenomena.
